Cohort Technology To Distribute Accode From Monitise To Their Reseller Base In The UK & Ireland

Monitise Group today announced that Cohort Technology, the leading distributor of emerging IT security technology, will offer Accode, Monitise Group's two factor authentication service [2FA], to its network of Value Added Resellers. Targeted at enterprises and organisations that need to allow remote access to their portals or Virtual Private Networks [VPNs], Accode allows resellers to deliver a fully branded [either their own or their customer’s] security application directly on the end-customers existing mobile handset, laptop or desktop. The Accode service uniquely offers 'banking grade' security to the enterprise IT industry since it is based on the same technology as Monitise's MONILINK service which currently provides mobile phone banking and payments services for the UK and USA’s leading high street banks. It also delivers on the potential of the mobile handset as a security tool to help organisations to operate more effectively, while removing the dependence on insecure fixed passcodes as the means of providing ‘secure’ access to corporate networks or portals.
Accode presents a compelling alternative to token based security systems, coupled with far greater convenience, allowing for a more cost effective user authentication system. User trials have also confirmed that Accode can reduce cost of ownership by 66% compared to token based solutions. It is available as a Java download to a mobile device, SMS based service and as a PC token catering for all user environments and needs from light to heavy users.
Grahame Smee – Managing Director of Cohort Technology said: "Over the past few of years mobile working has helped organisations become far more agile. However, protecting the integrity of the IT networks and the corporate information has presented a headache to IT managers. Furthermore, in many instances token based services have presented as many challenges in terms of management as the advantages they have offered.
"The difference with Accode is that it uses the hardware that end-users already use day to day, namely their mobile phone or PC, reducing the incidences of users forgetting to carry a token or other additional piece of hardware and the resultant helpdesk calls. Furthermore, since it is fully brandable, it allows resellers to further cement their relationships with their customers."
Simon Barnard of Monitise’s security division said: "Cohort Technology’s expertise in the security technology space, coupled by its marketing leading reseller base, demonstrates the growing market opportunity for information security services which don’t compromise on either security or convenience. We very much look forward to working with Cohort and its resellers to help British enterprises to benefit from remote access to information without compromising the integrity of their network security."
